As a poor college student many years ago, I practically lived on ramen noodle soup, and in spite of it playing a huge part of my student diet, I never really tired of the wonderful and tempting aroma of the ramen noodles cooking and the delicious taste of chicken soup spice packet that was added. So naturally, when I discovered this gluten-free ramen miso soup, I was eager to give it a try.
The first time I tried this soup, it didn’t turn out well. Part of the reason, I believe, that I was so disappointed, is that I don’t normally find miso soup to be all that appealing. It was probably a combination of me expecting an immediate return to the joys of my college ramen soup memories and being met instead with a miso soup blandness, and me probably not cooking the noodles from the package correctly, that caused me to write off this product as not being a good match for me.
Recently, I decided at last to give it another try…but with a twist. I carefully cooked the noodles from the package according to the directions, but instead of adding the miso soup packet ingredients, I instead added a chicken soup flavor packet from a ramen soup package my wife had in the pantry, and the result was magic! The wonderful chicken soup packet so generously donated by my wife, and the ramen noodles turned out to be a great match for me! I never thought that I’d be able to enjoy chicken ramen noodle soup again, but here I was! While I don’t think there’s anything that can quite match the unique and lovely flavor of ramen noodles, the noodles from this soup package make a valiant go of it and come pretty close.
If you love miso soup, this may be worth a try for you. If you miss having ramen noodle soup as I do, purchase an inexpensive package of ramen noodle soup, extract the soup packet, and combine the soup with these ramen noodles for a great bowl of soup.
