Great Value is the Walmart in-store brand, and for some reason, I just cannot get this pasta to work for me. I’ve used this penne for a while, but it seems to always leave me a bit disappointed. Not willing to give up, I decided to give it another try. Tonight, I tried cooking this penne along with another pasta side-by-side, and then, using the same sauce, served the two for a comparison. The other pasta provided a better dish. Perhaps the results are because I struggle withs some difficulty in getting the Great Value pasta to cook just right. It seems to go from too hard to too soft almost all at once.
I’ve tried many the Great Value gluten-free products and have been generally very pleased. This is my one, unfortunate exception. Perhaps in the hands of a better pasta chef than me, the results would be different.
