I can’t tell you how many times I’ve stood there at the stove with a boiling pan of what I was hoping would be white gravy—butter, gluten-free flour, cornstarch at the ready stirring, adding, re-adding—all in the hopes that just this one time, I could make a decent white gravy (Same struggles with white sauce.) but notwithstanding my high hopes, and many a messy kitchen, hardly ever was I successful in any of my attempt at making white gravy. The only thing I ended up cooking was a bunch of frustration. Imagine my delight to find Pioneer Country Gravy Mix.
I followed the preparation directions exactly as described on the package and the process was quick and very simple. Basically, if you can boil water, you can make a delicious pan of gravy. To my pleasant surprise, before I knew it, I had a pan of perfect white gravy. Finally, I could enjoy my mashed potatoes once again with gravy, and a family favorite breakfast, biscuits and gravy, was now within reach of even my easily challenged cooking skills. As with many products gluten-free, you’ll pay more than the standard product, but for me, this extra cost is definitely worth it.
You’re probably a pro at making white gravy, but if you’ve tried this gravy mix, what was your experience? Please share your thoughts in comments below.
